Huron Valley DSA (HV-DSA) is the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) organizing for democratic socialism in Washtenaw, Livingston, Jackson, Hillsdale, and Lenawee counties of Michigan. DSA is a national political organization funded and run democratically by members that seeks to build a mass movement and transfer power from the ruling elite to the working class, and in the process restore freedom & democratic control over all aspects of our society to the people.
HV-DSA holds monthly chapter meetings along with frequent events throughout the year that are open to dues-paying members and interested community members alike. Click here to join us and get involved locally.
DSA is the fastest growing socialist organization in the country and the largest socialist organization in the US since the Second World War, with nearly 100k members and 200 chapters in every state. We’ve gone from 5,000 members in 2015 to over 94,000 members today.
DSA traces its roots to before the First World War all the way back to the Socialist Party of America and was officially founded in 1982 as a merger between Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee and the New American Movement.
