Mission
This committee's mission is to work towards a society that meets everyone's needs, starting with workers and their workplaces. We work to unionize workplaces that our members currently work in, as well as assist workers in the local area that want to organize their workplaces. However, assisting in local unionization efforts is only half of our work. Unionizing workplaces for the sake of improved wages, benefits, and workplace conditions is great, but we also want to bring workers into actively participating in the running of their workplaces.
To this end, we also help train up workers who want to help organize workplaces, who may bring in their fellow workers and friends into the fray. When more people participate in the building of their workplaces, they help build strong relationships with each other, and push for collective needs. This is one of our largest goals: bringing as many people as possible into struggle for a better society, one that represents their needs. The only way to reach a society that works to improve the lives of everyone, to fight for our collective needs, is one that has everyone's input. And when many people have experience organizing their workplaces, and the safety net unions provide, they are better equipped to pay attention to the needs of others, and encourage others to have their voices heard.
What We Do
- We provide training to workers who want to learn how to organize their workplace
- We provide strike support to workers and unions depending on what they need and what we can provide
Who We Work With
We work with members of our organization who want to organize, workers in the local area, and other organizations in order to build up both unions themselves and organizers.
